Privacy Policy
Last updated September 2026
This page explains what Wayfinder World actually collects when you visit — in plain language, matching exactly how the site is built rather than generic boilerplate. It isn't a substitute for legal advice; if you need a policy reviewed for a specific regulatory requirement, have a lawyer look at this before relying on it.
There's no account, and we don't ask for personal information
You can play every game, read every comic and leave feedback without signing up, logging in, or giving us your name, email, or any other personal detail. We don't have a sign-up form anywhere on the site.
One cookie: your anonymous Workshop progress
To remember your XP, badges and which experiences you've already reviewed, we set a single first-party cookie called wf_sid. It holds a random id and nothing else — no name, no email, no tracking across other sites. It's how your Workshop progress survives between visits on the same device. Clear it and you start fresh; nothing identifies the old progress as yours.
Feedback you give us
When you review an experience, report a bug or suggest an improvement, we store what you wrote together with that anonymous id and the experience it's about. Ratings are aggregated and shown publicly straight away. Written comments are private to the creators until one of us approves them, after which a short excerpt may appear on that experience's page. We also store the same one-way hashed IP we use for likes, purely to stop one person flooding the system.
Please don't put personal details in your feedback — it isn't needed, and we would rather not hold them.
Like counts
When you tap the heart on a game or comic, two things happen:
1. Your browser remembers, on your own device only (inlocalStorage), that you've already liked that item — so the heart shows as filled if you come back. This never leaves your device and we never see it.
2. Our database adds one to that item's total like count. To stop the same person clicking repeatedly to inflate a count, we also store a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address alongside the item — combined with a secret value only we hold, so it can't be reversed back into your real IP. We never store your actual IP address, and there's no way to trace a like back to a specific visitor.
No tracking scripts, no analytics, no advertising cookies
Wayfinder World doesn't run Google Analytics or any other visitor-tracking service, doesn't set advertising cookies, and doesn't load fonts or scripts from third-party CDNs that could track you across sites — everything the site itself needs is hosted on our own servers. The only numbers we look at are our own: how many people opened, played and reviewed each experience.
Games and comics hosted elsewhere
Some games open on their own site or platform — Roblox, Typebot, and a handful of independent game studios we work with. Once you leave wayfinderworld.co, or once a game loads inside a frame from one of these services, that service's own privacy policy applies, and we don't control or see what they collect. Worth a glance at their policies if you're curious before you play.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically logs basic technical information for every request — things like IP address, browser type, and which page was requested — the same way a phone company logs which numbers you dialled. This is standard infrastructure logging, used only to keep the site running and secure, not to build a profile of individual visitors.
